Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16

Two major differences between SAS 70 and SSAE 16 are:

SAS 70 was audit based whereas SSAE is an “Attestation.” The standard reserves the word “audit” for financial based type reports.

The second major difference between SAS 70 and SSAE 16 is the replacement of the idea of “controls,” as found under SAS 70, with a standard more inline with the global community of evaluating the “system.”
